Hi Nick, what's your budget and what is it going to be used for?

If your going to use Vista, 2GB ram is the minimal, the X3100 isnt any good for gaming, also you will want Vista Premium edition as the Basic is pointless.

Generally think Vista is not working for anyone.

Many have tried it and even the most hardened have eventually gone back to XP

I think Vista is fine. I have it on 4 machines now and no way would I go back to XP.

Think we must live in a different world ;) In the main, general users who have asked for my recommendations love it. Gaming may be that different world I guess. At work all new PCs for the last year have been Vista and when 2008 server is released we shall reap the benefits. I'd hate to look back in 2 years time wishing I had not delayed the inevitable, like I did with Win98/XP (remember all that fuss?).

Vista home runs perfectly well on 1GB (even runs on 512mb), unless you are gaming.

Sorry peeps, but I never was a "bandwagon" man  .

Gotto agree Mac's are pretty good, but thats only after you stick your preferred Linux Distro on them :P

Clingy Macbook would do fine for the tittie sites and probs cut down on Spy-ware.
