Virus

I've got my first one in ages. ******* is making me pull out what is left of my hair.

Bitdefender found it but can't remove it. (It's a legal, version of BD too

) Ticket raised with their help desk.

It has forced a strange popup on start up, has installed a couple of icons on my desktop that try to force me to a place called storageprotector and I can no longer launch windows explorer.

Spyhunter 3 has identified it as a trojan but you have to buy their licence to remove it

I'll let you all know how I get on with the Bitdefender ticket.

I think that I may of had the same thing or something similar, IIRC I used <a href="http://www.lavasoft.com/products/ad_aware_free.php" target="_blank">ad-aware</a> and <a href="http://www.safer-networking.org/en/index.html" target="_blank">spy-bot</a> to get rid of it.

Spybot found and cured it.

It was a trojan dropper that then hijacked the home page, forced pop-ups that dragged in more viruses if you closed them and blocked windows explorer.

Nothing back for my Bitdefender ticket but Rasputin solved the probs.

I got a nasty while using Norton... having used AVG for ages and getting nothing.

I now use Kapersky.. very good reviews and no nasties
