Is anyone using anything VR related?

I tried some head tracking using a webcam for DCS, but it was crap, so I borrowed a mate's Quest 2...

They say you are meant to drop into VR slowly, as you can imagine...
I didn't..

Dropped into a TF-51 on DCS, 5 minutes later I was flying at treetop level at 300+mph..
Gawd I felt like shit, it really threw me a wobbly.
Tried it again but in an F15 at 20,000 feet and found the level of immersion outstanding, target tracking and environmental awareness were something else..

However, I decided that due to the level of buttons and other things you need for some of the high-fi planes in DCS, it just wouldn't work as hand tracking wasn't good enough to press buttons in the cockpit and I couldn't quite get comfortable with the fresnel lenses on the Quest 2 and one or other eye was always out of focus slightly, then there was the cost, the Quest 3 is £479 or there about these days, so for something I was just going to be using once or twice a week, it was a none starter..

Anyways, I bought a Quest 3 :fish: :whis:

My argument is, I'll get some money back from TopCashBack, I bought it through Very.co.uk and signed up for their VeryPay, which gives you 20% off your first order, so I got just shy of £100 off of the list price, I'll get some cash back, and I've got a referral code for some Meta Store credit as well..
I'll probably end up spending that saving on a new headband, light blocker and charging stand for it. but still... :trig:

So, back to the original point, anyone playing anything in VR?

Yeah VR vertigo is a thing, you kinda get used to it, but the feeling is still there sometimes, depends what you are doing tbh

I got VR for the PS4 a few years ago, and it was great. But, it was not the way I gamed with the games that I was playing at the time, it seemed like more work. So, if I was going to go big with VR, it would need to be with a new game completely.

I had a little nausea, but that's because I wear glasses and it was difficult getting the focus right.
Just be a nutter... life becomes much more exciting, and people won't expect anything more of you...

Thats why I went down the Q3 route, I tried the Q2 from a mate, but that's got fresnel lenses and you have to get it spot on eye wise, so I decided I wasn't going to bother, then I got a 'new toy' itch and got the Q3 instead, it has pancake lenses and a lot more PD adjustment than the Q2, and, even though I still get a bit of 'wobble' sometimes when I move its a lot better than it originally was buzzing trees...

There is also the option of getting lense covers with the Q3, so you can use it without your glasses..

I have the Q3, and I also have lenses so that I can use it without my glasses. To be honest, I'm never getting a headset without lenses now. The pass-through camera might not be great, but it's very convenient; it removes the needless removal of the headset every time I want to do something when using it with a PC.
