Hi I need some kind of storage to back stuff up on (pron etc :D ) saw this on the tv last night. Doesn't look to bad or to pricey. What do you think. What real world transfer speeds will I get with usb 2?

Well it quotes

16MB cache buffer
Average seek time: 9.3ms

Most internal 500gb Sata Drives quote seek times of between 8.5ms and 9.0ms.

So I would say that used as backup storage it would be perfectly fine

I have this drive H & it is flawless as a storage device & for playing movies/music including huge HD movies, I woudn't install any games to it like, but for what you want it'd be perfect.

At work we bought the 320mb one of that and a Seagate. The Maxtor looks terribly cheap and plasticy whereas the Seagate looks much better. But at the end of the day they both are doing the same job fine.
