Windows 7 Is Here

Well my legit copy of Win 7 arrived today. I'm going to collect drivers etc and install on Saturday. Never tried it yet so any tips to get the best out of it? Herd it was posted early due to the postal strike

I must remember to download Firefox before I format as Win 7 E has no browser with it.

Drivers aren't an issue really. W7 came with most of what I needed. I don't think that I got W7 E as I got W7 Ulimate and it had IE out of the can.

I think they decided that there wasnt going to be any "E" versions in the end so you may find it has a browser anyway

I got my email confirmation today and its coming by DHL so hopefully will be here tomorrow

Stick it on a USB stick and install from there, loads faster

Initially there was going to be an "E" version which didnt have a browser as part of some EU directive.

But I think that got shelved

Well just looked at the box and it says Windows 7 Home Premium. No sign of the E. I'll find out at the weekend!

Microsoft scrapped the E version and are still in the courts sorting out the fine from the EU.

Works a treat, I use it everyday at work with Windows 7 Professional, handy that you also get to use a free VM of XP Professional too.

You should be able to use Vista drivers if 7 doesnt install some of your hardware

Ive not installed any Dell drivers on my laptop yet and the windows 7 driver for my intel wireless nic just works brilliantly

Install it on an SSD from a USB, takes about 15 minutes

Software4students have ultimate pretty cheap. I qualify for it cos Alice's school is on the list.

I just bought office 2007 enterprise from them for Â£38, offer ends the end of this month, can be installed on 2 computers
