Saw this and liked the look of it. Looks like it's all operated by the thumb.

Think they'll have missed a trick if there isnt one.
Chances are it'll be part of the setup, or that phone will have some sort of accelerometer device in it so it knows which way its being held and put the menu system on that side.

It's looks pretty, and the idea definitely has a future, but sometimes these technologists forget that we are multi-sense, multifunctional humans. Sometimes I'm not looking at my phone when I'm using it, and I think this is human nature. I think an item that demands you always look at it to use it will be perceived as intrusive, either to the one using it, or to the one who has to stand and wait while this item interjects in their interaction.

I wonder if this will go the way of the thumb operated trackball mouse, etc. It is amazing how common thumb arthritis is, in fact very few people realise they have it until some thumb dexterity is required.

I'm not happy with the apparent response time of the phone's menu system either... or maybe I'm just in a grumpy mood today...

Ah, now those additional videos demonstrate the problem better. The interviewer asked him about what he was using on the side of the device, but as it turns out he was just adjusting the position of the device in his hand rather than some feature button.

People are going to either try to use it with two hands or avoid the thumb gimmick and use the typical but stodgy menu system.

It really is the wrong shape/size to be thumb operated, but if they gave me one I might not say no... :D
