I'll have to copy the data over before I RMA the WD. I'll have 2 1TB drives went the replacement arrives. I went for the WD as it has a 5year warranty where as the Samsung only has 3 years.

Over a short period of time you are just going to have vast amounts of data that is out of date in terms of usefulness and compatibility. Having that much data on what you have experienced as being relatively volatile storage medium is... scarey to say the least!
Maybe I should have asked what you are gonna use them for... but having that much stuff on... burrh... don't even want to think about it...
Just be a nutter... life becomes much more exciting, and people won't expect anything more of you...
I have Acronis images of my main C: drive, MKV movies & music downloads. Use it to store data on as well.
New drive:
The F3 operates at 7200RPM with offerings of up to 1TB data storage capacity by using two 500GB per platter disks. As well as meeting datacentre requirements for addition storage to meet rising demand and increasing performance needs, the new drives also deliver high-performance with lower power for desktop computers and servers.
- Capacity: 1TB
- Cache: 32MB
- Interface: SATA-II
- Spin Speed: 7200RPM
- Seek Time: 8.9ms
- Warranty: 3 Years
old drive:
WD Caviar Black high-performance 3.5" SATA drives combine 7200RPM spin speed, 32MB cache, SATA 3 Gb/s interface, and an integrated dual processor for lightning-fast performance in demanding desktop, workstation, and multi-drive systems. Technologically advanced acoustics minimize noise and cool drive operation and enhanced reliability features help protect the drive and the data stored on it. With a massive 1TB of storage, these drives are ideal for power computing applications such as multimedia, video and photo editing, and maxed out gaming computers. Backed by a 5-year limited warranty.

- Warranty: 5 Years
Maybe I should just get a 500gb drive for torrent use.

That drive must be faulty Hammer. I cannot understand how utorrent can ruin a drive in 6 months.
