Hi Nelly & others I'm after a new widescreen TV. I've still got the square box at the moment so this is my first venture in to widescreen. I'm after something half decent with very good picture quality and not to bad sound from built in speakers. I will change my surround sound amp sometime in the future as it's knackered.
I'll need at least 2 HDMI inputs. 1 for PS3 and 1 for Sky HD. Using normal Sky at the moment but will upgrade to HD when I get a new TV.
I can stream MKV's from the PC to the PS3 at the moment. I'll hard wire the PS3 to the network once new TV arrives.
Looking at the <a href="http://www.comet.co.uk/shopcomet/produc ... ation#spec" target="_blank">Panasonic TX-P46S10B 46</a>" what are you thoughts on this?
What will motion blur be like @400hz ? I've seen some expensive TV's in the shop that the picture looks crap on normal SD. This may be just the way the shop has set them up. Most of the programmes that will be viewed are in SD as the missus watches all the soaps so it has to be good quality.
I want to get the TV from Comet if possible as my son's friend works there and I can get 10% off the listing price.
Cheers guys Hammer.

In my experience SD looks crap on a HD TV unless you buy an expensive version due to the quality of the image processor. Tbh your best bet is to view sets in stores if your worried about SD quality.

£750 warrants a 5yr warranty Hammer imo. Freeview HD has actually been live since the beginning of the year just not rolled out fully yet. So freeview tellys will need a freeviewHD tuner in em to get freeviewhd through your aerial.
So many new things coming out this year but aint it the same every year.
John Lewis are pricey but stick a 5yr warranty on the others and they can seem good value and they price match. M&S do tellys now too with 5yrs.
Look at avforums Hammer, loads of posts about tv's, loads of user experiences if you troll hard enuf.

Some may weigh up a decent home insurance policy against a warranty.
For example, my first laptop was an Epson Equity LT - basically a portable 286 with two floppy drives. My niece fell asleep with it on her lap and subsequently it was dropped and smoked whenever it was powered up afterwards.
It was in the back of a cupboard for a few months when out of the blue I remembered we had quite a good home insurance policy. We got a replacement laptop within two weeks worth £900.00 more than I paid for the Epson, which I only paid about £50.00 for because the original owner wasn't really into the high tech of the times as they thought they were.
This option may not suit everyone, so each to their preferences as we're obviously talking about a lot of cash sat in the corner of the room there.

Just be a nutter... life becomes much more exciting, and people won't expect anything more of you...
