Yeah, I see what you mean now, sorry. British culture at the moment wants to turn almost everything into a soap opera; matters that aren't life or death are proposed as such, and some people are switching on those emotions which are then being seared to the real issues in life.Clingy wrote: It's just the hyperbole of the media I absolutely detest, it's a sheer and utter disgrace![]()

Everything is "disastrous" or "brilliant". How many times did you hear Hansen and co saying "without a shadow of a doubt". The way they fawn over Brazil and Argentina was aslo difficult to take.
I don't deny England were dissapointing, but a "disaster"? No, a disaster is losing a loved one, innocent people getting killed, famine, destruction of your home....under performing, overpaid prima donnas are not "disasters".
It was good to watch Germany, until Spain bored them into submission.
Speaking of the media, there are advertisements on TV that suggest for just a few quid a month you could save a child's life in the 'third world'... and then moments later there is another advert that says for the same amount of money you can save an animal... what equations are society being educated to make?
You've provoked my thinking on this, Clingy. It's good to have things put in perspective.
