I use WD, Reds or Red+ specifically, but depends what you can get on deals etc.

Try looking at a single WD drive, then once you have placed your first they'll send you a discount code for your next order, at which point order the other 2 drives to give you 3..

3.5's chap, just bought another 8Tb Red+, even though I'm on iTX the NR200 allows me to fit plenty of drives in it, if I were on 2.5's then I could fit more in if I really wanted, not sure the performance of laptop drives would create an issue or not.

Drive layout as of tomorrow will be.

500Gb nvme drive onboard m.2 for OS
500Gb nvme drive onboard rear m.2 for VM storage
1Tb 2.5 SSD for Drivepool, SATA header on the board
4Tb 2.5 SSD for Drivepool, SATA header on the board
3x 8Tb 3.5 WD Red+ for Drivepool, controller card with 2x 8087 breakouts giving me max of 8 drives attached to that, I only use a single SAS-SATA cable though and will probably never need the second.

I do have a 1tb 2.5 drive I could stick in there for testing but for me there would be no real need.

Ok I have found this and like the look, seems plenty of space for hdds. Full size.

Let me know what you think.

Thats pretty much the same CPU wise as the Optiplex you were looking at the other day tbh, but with it being a server you have more space for toys inside..

Not sure on the requiremnts for JellFin itself, but 4 cores should do the job, it run mainly on AV1?

Well things moved rather quickly lol.

Wasn't happy with performance so upgrading already.

I have changed the CPU to i7 4790 £25 second hand.
4 x 8gb of ddr 3 ram
250gb ssd OS
2.5tb WD spinner hdd
2tb Seagate Spinner hdd
4tb Seagate spinner hdd

All seems to work quite nicely now. Next task is to try and sort my dc++ to add my hdds to the share.

You got a passive heatsink in there?
With the size of that case, and the power you are going to realistically use, I'd be looking at going as close to fanless as possible, depending on where the machines physically going to sit, just give it some low rpm noctuas and some 3d printed ducting to direct air over the drives etc..

Of course, you would need a 3d printer ;)

Should have bought one in the last week or so chap, it was sub £500 for the one I have, with the Ace Dryer/Colour changer module.
