I'm totally out of touch with processors now and wonder whether any of you kind people can give me a few pointers.

Replacing standard PCs at work is no issue, we go for cheapest P4. However I am now after a PC for the IT boys. In must be Intel and it will be running multiple applications including several virtual PCs and Servers.

So is a Core Duo 1.6 better than a similarly priced P4?

Simple answer to a simple question I would of thought.
I could go into all the in's and out's of the internal differences within the chip, the changes in the chipset's that support the chip and differences in RAM types etc but this is Clingy were on about...

Keep
It
Simple
Stupid
