The women were caught on CCTV with the bag
Two women in their late 70s have admitted taking a wallet from a bag which was left on a train on Wearside.
CCTV images of the women rummaging through the bag, were issued by British Transport Police (BTP) after the incident at Sunderland station.
The elderly pair handed the bag in to station staff, but later admitted removing the wallet first.
A BTP spokesman said the duo gave themselves up and were subsequently cautioned after admitting the offence.
He said: "Two females being sought by the British Transport Police in connection with a theft at Sunderland Station have handed themselves in to police.
"They have subsequently been interviewed and have admitted the offence.
"Both have received police cautions."
