Hi guys
i have spent the last half hour tryin to get info on this subject and the best info i seemed to find was interesting...

<!--quoteo--><div class='quotetop'>QUOTE</div><div class='quotemain'><!--quotec-->118226. Up to two enquiries for a flat 23.5p per call

You pay 23.5p including VAT no matter how long the call lasts, and can officially make up to two enquiries per call. Run by a little know company G.M. Group, actually the Directory Enquiry service is provided for it by BT, with the same call centre staff doing it as its other operations. The service is really designed to appeal to businesses, yet there's nothing stopping consumers from using it.

Next cheapest, and the cheapest officially marketing itself to consumers is Colt Telecom on 118 390 at a flat 27p. The only other alternative worthy of note is Conduit’s 118 848 which is a flat 35p but allows three enquiries.<!--QuoteEnd--></div><!--QuoteEEnd-->

now thats cheap BUT it also seems thats for land lines and sine i only have a mobile i want to find the cheapest for my vodafone contract.

Vodafones stance on this one is..

<!--quoteo--><div class='quotetop'>QUOTE</div><div class='quotemain'><!--quotec-->118 888 – Directory Assistance

118 888 is the number for Vodafone’s preferred Directory Assistance and Through Connect service. Calls to 118 888 cost 70p per minute inc. VAT for the first minute and 25p per minute for every minute thereafter (minimum call charge 70p), with no extra charge for the text message. Remember to update your mobile phone book with 118 888.

Directory Assistance: is 118 888
The smart way to find any UK telephone number

Through Connect: is 118 888
Finds the UK number you want and then connects you to it!

The 118 888 service will help you find any UK telephone number. We can even send phone numbers to you by text message, which saves you writing them down. The Through Connect service takes things a step further by finding a UK number and then connecting you.<!--QuoteEnd--></div><!--QuoteEEnd-->

and thats not so cheap :(

Make that 3 of us who look 'in the book'. I wonder how long the telephone book will be around for?? I understand you can get it on disk now, might look into getting that.

I'm also with Dak on the google for a business idea, plus if you have a wap phone (Who doesn't??) with free allowance it's a lot cheaper than 118 directory services.
