Yeah very interesting. I like seeing things like that but the money could be put to a better use.

Well that hardly sounds fair.

The article didn't say why microsoft didnt' win, but it appears that they bought the rights from the correct source.

I think microsoft appear as one big target for things like this.

MicroSoft Will always be the target for these things that is very true, but with what they are trying to do Linux with the Patents things. I feel that they are getting their just deserts really.

But hippy you are right it's not fair but in the trade that they are in they have be been very unfair to others. Please don't get me wrong I am not a microsoft hater I use their products daily and am quite happy with them. Microsoft does and has done a lot of very good things for the world.

I'd be more concerned about it opening up ways for alcatel to take other companies to court.
there must be more to it than is stated in that article.

Basically Microsoft, using their own terminology, have been found to be non-compliant. To them it doesn't matter if a company thought it bought the right licenses, etc, their licenses are essentially non-refundable. So, the customer and the LAR can be hit but MS keep the cash - and probably a bit more when the 'mistake' is rectified. That's Microsoft's philosophy.

I think they are just getting some of their own medicine - but let's see how it develops...
Just be a nutter... life becomes much more exciting, and people won't expect anything more of you...
