Future Of Gaming
Moderator: Dangerous Bob
Will it be the rise of the consoles again? Will PC gaming not necessarily die, but become uninteresting due to endless game sequels or the products of film follow-ups?

Just be a nutter... life becomes much more exciting, and people won't expect anything more of you...
I think that gaming is not changing but we are just getting older and cannot warrant spending £400 on the latest console every 18 months !!!
I remember thinking nothing of spending £300 on the latest console and then 6 months later spending the same on its latest rival, I had no mortgage or anything else to spend my money on then! Now I'll not even give it a second thought and just trundle on with my PC. I've even mentioned that once my current PC dies that will probably be the end of my PC gaming with regard to fast paced high spec resource hungry stuff.
I think my money will be going on a new bike instead

One problem with the gaming industry is that their is lots of choice now. It's harder to get as many people drawn into a game as their are so many. Certainly not like the days of CS back in the dial up days.
The other problem that I see is labour costs, people have just got more expensive for companies. At the end of the day unless the company manages to have over enough people to make a profit their not going to survive. Basic principle really unless the gaming companies can sell their product for an inflated price over what it is trully worth we just won't have as many games (which in turn could probably help the industry
just won't help the Governments employment figures)

As Jase said Most gamers are now spending money on other things. younger Gamers 18-25 years old would pay the £400+ for the new things but most gamers are under 18 or over 25 now. The Last Console I bought was a PS1 and I will not be buying another I just don't have the money to spend on something that just plays games. My PC is a tool for life as most of you will agree your PC usage might have started of life for gaming but now does alot more. Consoles just do not cut it for me you can't just slowly upgrade your console you just have to fork out the whole sum in a oner. PC Gaming was around before Consoles and will stay around after Consoles.
