I'm inviting some friends around for a Barbecues on Sunday, but most of them are Veggies... any ideas for a Veggie Barbecue?
Vegetarians And Barbecues

With one proper Vege and two who eat fish and one that eats meat, we have interesting barbecues!
For Vege stuff I'll do Halloumi, cheap Tesco Vege burgers (8 in a box), red peppers, onions, cougettes....
Sweet corn, if available is fanastic on the barby....DONT WRAP IT IN FOIL!!!....just naked and keep turning for 4 - 6 mins.
Vege Kebabs with cubes of Halloumi are good. Use shallots, red pepper, green pepper, cougettes, button mushrooms.
Oh and cover vegetables in Olive oil before chucking on the barby...no fat in vege stuff so it wont generate the flames and heat of meat (or shoudl I say fat).
I'll post again when I get more ideas.

Be careful with nut cutlets and the like, they just fall to pieces....so avoid if possible. I make my own peanut burgers, but I have to be very careful, just turning once and not touching when cooking.
Vegetarian sausages can be hit and miss. Some dont like grilling or barbecuing. We find the easiest are Linda McCartney ones (6 or 8 in a box) which usually hold together.
Use a good strong Barbecue sauce to get more flavour.
Your biggest problem will be keeping the barbecue hot without any fat. We aren't too fusy so we get the thing going with the meat first and then do the Veg.
Still thinking...
LOL ... and this always reminds me of Jase trying to cook our "cardboard" on his barby at the LAN.

Put the veggie person on the bbq
2 problems solved in one
Na, i have some veggie mates I've experimented a lot, doing one tonight actually, LOADS of hallumi, you can't beat it. Keep one side of the grill clean so no meat gets on that side, i avoid anything that is supposed to taste like meat such as quorn, linda mcartney stuff, but proper veggie, bean burgers and and patties fantastic! just do a few of those, corn on the cob, potato salad, salad. Oh, and do LOADS of fried onions
goes down a treat with everthing.
If you want to be a little more adventurous, peppers roast up a treat on the barbie (blacken them and the skin will fall off) stuff them with cheese and vegetables!, i got my dad a webber veg roaster this year, it's a stainless steel tin, you just pile chopped veg into it, challottes, mushrooms (bleurgh), peppers, beans etc. into it, cover in oil, pepper, herbs, maybe some chilli sauce or mustard, and just stick in on the grill, toss it occasionally, it's fantastic!

For desert, halve some peaches, a dollop of mascarpone on top, drizzle some maple syrup over them and roast. . . . YUM!

Awesome ideaSlatz wrote: Do chicken kebabs and tell them it's qorn.
My veggie mate reckons it's just as good as chicken, so you can test the theory, and get them back onto a healthy diet.![]()

LOL, joking apart my rapid weight gain when I turned Veggie was because I started enjoying food.
Still an open invitation at the Slatz ranch for you and the tribe.
I'll do you a "special" bbq
