I am inheriting a good PC (son of to Uni and has got himself a laptop), and I want to set-up a Windows Media Centre....well I think I do  .

To save me hours of research can someone point me in the direction of some good articles etc.

Assume I am totally green B) .

I think Hippy is probably the one to ask, though I don't think he's been around much lately.

Aye Hippys the guy to talk to.

I've gone from XP MCE to Vista Ultimate MCE to Windows 7 MCE.

While 7 looks nice it really seems to lag when watching stuff and will stutter a fair bit so I might go back to XP MCE as the machines more than powerful enough.

I did try media portal for about an hour but lost interest pretty quick, depends what you want the box to do tbh.

Hello :)

I do pop on here every so often still :)

What do you need to know mate?

What hardware have you got?

You want a media center remote and a tv tuner card (or 2) to start with. Without those, it's pointless.

Once you've got it up and running, it's fairly self explanatory, best thing to do is to just start using it and then ask questions as and when they crop up.
